Using the Library: Research Assistance

Research Assistance

Use these guides created by our librarians to begin your research.

They provide general resources on a variety of subjects to help you narrow down your research topic.

These guides may include library resources such as books, journals, databases, websites, and more.

You can find them by going to the library website, scrolling down, and clicking Subject Guides.

If you have questions for a librarian, you can email the general library email at library@lcsc.edu.  This email is checked daily however, if our librarians are busy, you may not receive a response right away.  You can also call the circulation desk (208-792-2396) with questions.

Use the link above to book a 30-minute research appointment with one of our librarians. These can be in-person at the library or take place over zoom if you can't make it to campus.

Research appointments are designed to help you with searching strategies, not for a librarian to do your research for you.

When you book a research appointment:

  • Let us know how far along you are with your research and what you still need to find.
  • If the assignment has any specific instructions, include them in your booking.
  • Remember to plan ahead! Don't wait until the last minute to do your research.

Access answers to frequently asked questions about the library and our services.

You can also use our 24/7 chat service and get immediate help with your research.  This chat is not AI.  A librarian from around the world will respond to your research questions.
