What to do when the LCSC Library doesn't have the item you want:

Go to the "Interlibrary Loan" page, then follow the instructions.

You will need to know the item's title, author, publisher, and year of publication, as well as your WarriorMail email address.

What are Interlibrary Loans?

  • Interlibrary loan is what librarians call borrowing something from another library.

Who can use LCSC Interlibrary Loan service?

  • LCSC faculty, students, and staff may order items via Interlibrary Loan.
  • Other patrons should contact their local libraries.

How much does it cost to use Interlibrary Loan?

  • LCSC does not charge a fee to initiate an interlibrary loan.
  • Our policy is to try to borrow from libraries that do not charge for materials, but sometimes we can only find what you need at libraries that do charge.

How long does it take to get something from another library?

  • Materials can take a few days for articles to a few weeks for books. Plan ahead!
  • The time required is dependent on the library loaning the material, so may take even longer than this estimate.

How will I know when my material arrives?

  • We will email you via your WarriorMail account when your material arrives.
    • Books are mailed to LCSC off-campus students at the address provided on the Interlibrary Loan Form.
  • Your name will be placed on the white board located to the left of the Circulation Desk in the Library.
    • If your name is written on the left side, your material has arrived.
    • If your name is written on the right side, there is a problem with your request.
