The boxes in the second column will guide you to resources that explain how to analyze the raw financial data using business ratios. To see trends, compute the ratios across time. Look at a company's ratios for 5 years, for example, to see if there have been some changes. Also look at ratios for the company's major competitors, to see how your company compares. Are there areas where they are stronger than their competitors? Areas where they are weaker? These differences can give you ideas about your company's strengths and weaknesses.
The brief video below will show you how to find financial statements for your company in the Edgar Database.
