Researching a Company: Marketing

This guide helps students find and use a variety of resources to analyze a company.

Introduction to Resources on Marketing

These resources will help you to find high-quality, published information about a company's marketing activities.

Let's talk a bit about words.  When you do searches, you need to think of more than one way to express the idea you're researching.

Side note:  Remember that you can use the wild card (*) in the Library's databases to find multiple words with the same root.  For example, commun* will retrieve records with the words community, communities, communitarian, but also commune, communes, and Communist.  Communit* will be more useful when searching for information on the community as a company stakeholder!

Here are some suggested search words, but feel free to come up with some of your own :

market* or brand* or logo* or trademark* or differentiat* or reputation or adverti* or promotion* or price* or pricing or sales or "public relations" or online or "social media" or Facebook or twitter or Instagram or Web or Internet

Marketing eBooks (Richard K. Miller & Associates)

These eBooks provide statistical information on a wide variety of topics & industries.  They can help you find demographic information about customers or sales information for various products or industries.

You can use a Find (CTRL-F) search for specific terms.
